The new vessel was delivered to ONE from Japan Marine United Corporation at Kure shipyard in Hiroshima on 12 June 2018.
Her maiden voyage consisted of THE Alliance’s EC4 service (Asia to the North American Coast), calling at the ports of Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian, and Cai Mep, with Singapore being the last port in Asia.
The vessel is now expected to undertake a voyage to the United States’ East Cost, calling at New York via the Suez Canal.
CEO of ONE, Jeremy Nixon, said: “We very much welcome the ONE Stork to Singapore, the city which is where our Global Head Office is now based, and a major operational transhipment hub for ONE.
“We wish a safe voyage for the officers and crew aboard the ONE STORK, one of the most technically advanced container ships in the world.”
The ONE STORK is 364 metres long, with a dead weight tonnage of 139,500 tonnes, and features an advanced hull form with minimized engine-room space — allowing improved cargo-loading efficiency.
Additionally, the vessel utilizes a duel output system on the main engine which can switch between high and low outputs for flexible operation and improved fuel-consumption rates — helping the ONE STORK significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The new vessel has been painted in ONE’s distinctive magenta colours, which the company believe is symbolic of their independent and innovative approach to shipping.
Nixon commented: “Magenta we also hope will improve safety, and make the ONE STORK, and her sister-ships, much more visible to all the many other vessels that may pass her in close proximity over the course of her full trading life.”
