    Hyderabad South Central Railway (SCR) registered its best-ever performance in revenue during the first three months of the current financial year, 2025-26.

    The Zone has registered ₹5,219 crore of gross originating revenue during the period from April to June 2025, which is 1.2 per cent more than the previous best of ₹5,156 crore registered during the same period in 2024-25.

    This has been backed up by originating passenger revenue of ₹1,485.21 crore and freight revenue of ₹3,457.33 crore during this period. Similarly, the Zone has achieved the highest-ever freight loading of 37.41 million tonnes, which is 4 per cent higher than the previous best of 35.89 million tonnes loaded in the corresponding quarter of 2024-25.

    The Zone is placing a special focus on enhancing its freight basket by introducing new streams of traffic and destinations, while strengthening existing traffic.

    “The continuous endeavour in this direction has resulted in the Zone recording its best-ever freight loading in the first three months of the current financial year, by transporting 37.41 million tonnes of freight commodities. This is 1.52 million tonnes more than last year’s freight loading in the same period (35.89 million tonnes). The improvement in freight loading is clearly visible in all commodities like Coal, Iron Ore, Cement, etc,’‘ SCR said.

    Simultaneously, the Zone has been constantly monitoring passenger trends to introduce and operate special trains wherever required and feasible. SCR has operated 865 special train trips, carrying 11.18 lakh passengers through these trains during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

    In addition, the Zone has been augmenting the trains with extra coaches, wherever demand and feasibility permit, resulting in the clearance of waitlisted passengers. In terms of Passenger revenue, the Zone achieved ₹1485.21 crore during this period, which is 2 per cent higher than the previous year (₹1,455.15 crore).

    Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, SCR, complimented the team and advised staff and officers from all divisions and headquarters to maintain the same tempo to achieve the best performance by the end of the financial year, according to a release.
