Malaysian cargo carrier Raya Airways has begun service on its new Penang-Hong Kong route, with the first flight taking off from Penang International Airport on October 28, 2024. The route will have five flights each week utilising the A321-200(PCF) aircraft.

Founded in 1993, the airline specialises in express freight and air freighter charters, serving a network across domestic routes, Southeast Asia, and North Asia.

The route enhances DHL’s aviation network in Asia Pacific, and is served by Raya under DHL’s charter arrangement. Other than the Penang-Hong Kong route, Raya is also operating other charter services between Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong as well as Kuala
Lumpur and Singapore for DHL, mentions the official release from Raya Airways.

The airline has also partnered with Pos Aviation and Pos Aviation Engineering Services. Through this collaboration, Pos Aviation will handle ground and cargo operations for Raya Airways, while Pos Aviation Engineering Services will deliver aircraft engineering and
    maintenance support.

Pos Aviation Engineering Services is a line maintenance joint venture of SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) in Malaysia.

“We are pleased to be given trust by DHL to support their growing network, which is a testimony to their market leadership. Throughout the 14 years of partnership between the parties, Raya has developed a robust operational infrastructure to support DHL’s time-definite business model. In addition, we are also delighted to be given the opportunity to support the growth of Penang as a premier air cargo hub, given the presence of large high-end industries in the state,” says Mohamad Najib Ishak, Managing Director, Raya Group.

“The Penang-Hong Kong route will not be possible without the strong support of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad as the airport operator, in providing the operation-critical arrangements. A special note of thanks to MAHB’s team, led by YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Izani
    Ghani, the Managing Director.”

According to data from Planespotters.net, the airline currently operates a fleet of eight aircraft, with two of them are parked. The active fleet consists of three Airbus A321-200 (PCF) and three Boeing 767-200F. One Boeing 737-400(SF) and one Boeing 767-200F
    are currently parked.
