Germany’s top liner Hapag-Lloyd has bought out shipmanager Hamburger Lloyd.

The two Hamburg-based companies know each other well, with the manager looking after 29 of Hapag-Lloyd’s ships. Moreover, Hamburger Lloyd, founded in 2007, was a shipowner through to 2021, selling its last boxships to Hapag-Lloyd.

Hapag-Lloyd confirmed yesterday orders for 24 ships in China. The liner commissioned Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group to deliver twelve 16,800 teu LNG dual-fuel vessels, while New Times Shipbuilding will provide twelve 9,200 teu dual-fuel LNG vessels. The new vessels will deliver between 2027 and 2029.
