Flender India, a subsidiary of Germany-based Flender Group, has announced its intention to increase investments in the Indian market as part of its expansion strategy. With three established production sites in Kharagpur, Chennai, and Walajabad in Tamil Nadu, Flender India is focused on ramping up its production of wind turbine drive gearboxes to meet the demands of both local and international markets. Over 50% of the products manufactured in India are exported, underscoring the country’s growing importance in Flender’s global operations.
Flender Group CEO Andreas Evertz and Flender India CEO Vinod Shetty recently visited the Tamil Nadu facilities as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Flender Group, recognising India’s strategic role in the company’s growth. The visit highlighted the commitment to the region, with Evertz praising the company’s employees, suppliers, and partners for driving progress within the energy sector. Evertz expressed pride in Flender India’s team, noting its pivotal role in advancing the company’s energy transition goals.
Since Flender’s initial investment in India in 1961, the company has significantly expanded its operations in the region. Flender India has more than doubled its business in the last three years, benefiting from increased local demand and the broader global shift toward sustainable energy. Investments in India have quadrupled over the past four years, reflecting the market’s value to the company’s long-term goals.
Vinod Shetty, CEO of Flender India, shared that the company’s growth trajectory is driven by its dedicated workforce and solid partnerships with customers and suppliers. He noted the significance of celebrating the milestone anniversary with stakeholders, highlighting Flender India’s contributions to the manufacturing sector and commitment to local and global supply needs.
With over 10% of Flender Group’s global workforce based in India, the company aims to further increase output from its Indian facilities. Flender India’s latest investment initiatives underscore the group’s dedication to supporting both local manufacturing growth and its global expansion agenda, positioning India as a key production hub for high-quality industrial gear systems and components.
