Trade members said that the new Terminal Operating System (TOS), which was introduced a few days ago, has caused operational issues for the Adani group’s private Kattupalli port in North Chennai, including delays in the delivery of import containers. They expressed dissatisfaction over the inability to identify containers and the delay in moving boxes from the terminal to several container freight stations (CFS) located throughout the city.

In a November 5 letter to Chennai Customs’ Principal Commissioner of Customs (Preventive Commissionerate), the Chennai Chapter of the National Association of Container Freight Stations likewise emphasized the same concerns. Following the adoption of their new TOS, the NACFS stated that the EXIM trade at the Adani Kattupalli and Ennore Terminals is currently dealing with a number of urgent problems. These difficulties are creating significant delays and impeding smooth operations.

Additionally, the Association requested reimbursement for trailer waiting times and a storage waiver for postponed deliveries from Adani Kattupalli. In the event that a box is inadvertently loaded to the incorrect CFS, the terminal operator is responsible for paying the container detention fees that result from delivery delays and transportation expenses.

According to reports, just one container ship will be berthed at a time between November 11 and November 14 in order to facilitate yard operations and minimize car wait times at the parking area.
