    John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL), an industrial engineering company, signed an initial agreement on Thursday with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to explore joint initiatives aimed at advancing innovative solutions for India’s steel industry. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both parties will collaborate to revolutionise iron and steel production while promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable steel solutions nationwide.

    According to a press release, “This partnership with SAIL allows John Cockerill to leverage its combined strengths and innovative capabilities to make a real impact on reducing carbon emissions and shaping a more sustainable and competitive steel sector in India both now and for the future.”

    The MoU underscores a shared commitment to addressing critical environmental challenges and enhancing the competitiveness of India’s steel industry.

    Key focus areas:
    Exploring a joint venture in Cold Rolling and Processing for Carbon Steel, including Green Steel and Silicon Steel (CRGO, CRNO).

    Analysing the integration of green hydrogen into iron and steelmaking processes.

    Incorporating John Cockerill’s advanced processing technologies into SAIL’s future projects.
