E-commerce giant Amazon India, on Tuesday, made new commitments regarding msme, exports, and startups.
In Amazon SMBhav 2024, flagship event for India’s small businesses, Amit Agarwal, SVP, India and emerging markets, announced that the platform has signed an MoU with DPIIT.
“We are very excited sign in MOU with the Department of promotion of industry and internal trade. And this MoU is about very focused on the priority of manufacturing. So we are going to earmark about one $120 million as part of the sum of fund and we would make that accessible to startups who are investing in ideas related to domestic manufacturing, in trading brands out of India,” he said.
Further, motivated by the progress that Amazon made in driving exports out of India, “we are quadrupling our focus in the area. So we are actually going to announce a commitment to enable $80 billion in exports,” he said.
In the third announcement, Amazon India launched Amazon shipping and DSM Amazon freight.
“If you look at over the last 12 years, our team has done a fabulous job in investing in logistics technology and capabilities and AI on top of it to provide one of the most reliable and fastest delivery network nationwide. So we are going to make this accessible to any business out there, so that they can take advantage of it. Amazon freight will offer full truck loads inter city, intra city capabilities to sellers on demand,” he said.
