Express Global Logistics (EXG), member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India, recently completed a complex transportation project, moving eight critical blowdown tanks to the western part of India. The operation showcased the company’s expertise in handling oversized industrial cargo with precision and safety.
The project involved transporting 8 Blowdown Tanks weighing 541.52 metric tons. Each tank measured 17.35m (L) x 6.9m (W) x 7.2m (H), requiring specialized handling due to their massive dimensions and critical importance to petrochemical operations.
Strategic Planning and Execution
EXG’s success stemmed from comprehensive pre-planning. The team conducted thorough route surveys, examining every kilometre to identify potential obstacles, measure bridge clearances, assess road conditions, and determine infrastructure modification requirements. The total tank required 96 hydraulic axles for safe transport, distributing the enormous weight across multiple points to ensure stability and prevent road damage.
Overcoming Complex Challenges
The project required extensive coordination with highway authorities, electric utilities, and local governments. EXG managed civil modifications, toll plaza adjustments, power line shutdowns, and infrastructure adaptations.

- Obtaining permits for oversized cargo movement
- Arranging temporary power line shutdowns
- Modifying toll plaza facilities
- Coordinating port loadout operations at the site.
The final phase involved loadout operations at the site. EXG’s team ensured proper positioning, crane operations, and vessel loading while maintaining strict adherence to international safety standards.
