Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhavnagar Port Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (BPIPL) to operate and maintain the upcoming container terminal at the northside of Bhavnagar Port in Gujarat. The agreement was signed on September 4, 2025 in New Delhi.

As per the MoU, CONCOR will act as the container terminal operator and will be responsible for the operation, management and marketing of the terminal.

CMD CONCOR, Sanjay Swarup, said the collaboration is expected to provide value addition to customers and strengthen CONCOR’s role in the logistics sector.

    Project details

According to BPIPL officials, the total project cost is estimated at ₹4,500 crore. The development plan includes a container terminal with three berths; a multipurpose terminal with two berths; a roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) terminal; and a proposed liquid cargo handling terminal.

The port is expected to cater to logistics requirements in Central Gujarat, the Dholera Industrial Belt, and extend services to customers in the National Capital Region (NCR).

BPIPL had earlier executed an agreement with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in September 2024 for the development of port infrastructure.

Under the agreement, 235 hectares of land were allotted to BPIPL on a 30-year lease, with a provision for expansion by an additional 250 hectares.
