    VOC Port hosts trade meet in Coimbatore to strengthen EXIM connectivity

    V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port organised a Trade Meet in Coimbatore on 12th September 2025, in association with Dakshin Bharat Container Terminal (DBCT), Tuticorin International Container Terminal (TICT), and the EXIM trade fraternity of Tuticorin.

    The event featured detailed presentations highlighting the unique strengths of VOC Port, container terminals, and logistics service providers operating from Tuticorin. The sessions showcased the Port’s competitive advantages, robust connectivity, and initiatives to enhance trade facilitation for industries in the Coimbatore region.

    The interactive session, chaired by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port, witnessed active participation from industry stakeholders and trade representatives. The deliberations led to a comprehensive set of action points aimed at strengthening EXIM trade, including:

    • Establishment of a VOC Port Customer Relations Centre at Coimbatore.

    • Increased free days at terminals for import containers.

    • Setting up an Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Pollachi.

    • Introduction of a mobile app by terminals to streamline trade processes.

    • Repositioning of empty containers at Coimbatore to reduce logistics costs.

    Speaking on the occasion, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit reiterated VOC Port’s commitment to fostering closer engagement with trade and industry in the hinterland and ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and seamless cargo movement through Tuticorin.

    The event concluded with a call for continued collaboration among stakeholders to enhance the Port’s role as the preferred maritime gateway for South India.
