In a landmark achievement, V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port has handled 20 million tonnes of cargo as of 21st September 2025, marking the fastest-ever attainment of this volume in the port’s history.

This milestone reflects an overall growth of 0.61% in total cargo and a robust 6.93% increase in container traffic compared to the same period last year — reaffirming VOC Port’s status as one of India’s most efficient and fast-growing ports.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Susantha Kumar Purohit, Chairperson of VOC Port, said:

“Crossing the 20 million tonne mark ahead of schedule is a proud moment for all of us. This achievement is the result of seamless coordination, enhanced infrastructure, digital adoption, and the unwavering support of our trade partners. VOC Port remains committed to delivering excellence and contributing to India’s maritime growth.”

Ongoing modernization initiatives, including upgraded terminal facilities, improved hinterland connectivity, and digitized cargo handling systems, have supported the port’s rapid cargo growth.

With this momentum, VOC Port continues to set new benchmarks in operational efficiency and trade facilitation, reinforcing its critical role in India’s maritime and logistics ecosystem.
