CMA CGM has announced the launch of KILIMA, a new standalone service directly connecting Asia with East Africa.

The route includes ports in China and Singapore and will call weekly at Kenya and Tanzania. According to the company, the service includes a strategic stop in Colombo to link cargo from India’s East Coast and the Maldives.

CMA CGM said KILIMA is designed to strengthen one of the fastest-growing trade corridors. The service also enables access to and from the Indian Ocean islands, Mozambique, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo through transshipment and inland solutions.

The company noted that KILIMA will handle various cargo types, from project cargo to essential consumer goods.

CMA CGM S.A. is a French multinational shipping and logistics company headquartered in Marseille. It operates one of the world’s largest container fleets and provides sea, air, and land freight services through its global network.
