The Greenfield Airport at Bhogapuram will be completed ahead of schedule and will be operational by June 2026, G M Rao, Chairman of GMR Group said.
Speaking at the inaugural session of Andhra Pradesh CII Partnership Summit 2025 which began here on Friday, Rao said the Group will also build an integrated aerospace in 500 acres in Bhogapuram with MRO and other facilities.
“This will also boost the pre-aerospace economy in Andhra Pradesh and will unlock the vast potential for economic growth in the region,” Rao said, adding that Visakhapatnam is set to become an economic capital of the state.
Recalling the early steps taken during the construction of GMR Hyderabad International Airport at Hyderabad, Rao said Naidu, as the then Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, had championed the cause of the first Greenfield airport in the country at Hyderabad which had become a reality.
