Shipping Corp has unveiled plans to strengthen its fleet with an order for six new feeder boxships, to be constructed at a domestic shipyard in a deal valued at $360 million. The move underscores the company’s commitment to expanding regional shipping capacity and enhancing supply chain connectivity.

The new vessels, designed for feeder and short-sea operations, will feature modern fuel-efficient technologies to reduce operating costs and environmental impact. Officials noted that this investment supports India’s shipbuilding industry while addressing growing demand for containerized cargo transport across domestic and regional routes.

Construction of the vessels is expected to begin shortly, with delivery scheduled over the next few years, further solidifying Shipping Corp’s position in the competitive feeder shipping market.
