India’s sugar exports have recorded a strong upswing, with shipments to the United Arab Emirates and several other international markets increasing amid steady global demand for the sweetener.
Trade sources said Indian sugar producers and exporters have benefited from competitive pricing and reliable supply, enabling them to expand their presence in key markets across the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Asia. The UAE has emerged as a major destination due to its role as a regional trading and re-export hub.
Industry officials noted that Indian mills have been actively tapping export opportunities as domestic production remains strong in major sugar-producing states. Improved logistics and favourable trade ties with Gulf countries have also supported higher shipments.
Exporters say demand from food processing companies and beverage manufacturers in overseas markets continues to drive the growth of India’s sugar trade. The country has been steadily strengthening its position as one of the leading global suppliers of sugar.
Analysts expect export momentum to remain stable in the near term, although factors such as international price trends, shipping costs, and government policy decisions will continue to influence shipment volumes from India.
