Allcargo Group Founder and Chairman Shashi Kiran Shetty has inaugurated the Bunts Sangha’s Shashikiran Shetty Educational Institutions, comprising the Arathi Shetty Icon School and Leelavati Hegde School, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to expanding quality education in Mumbai.

The institutions were inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal, who attended the ceremony along with Seema Goyal, lending support to the initiative aimed at nurturing future generations through modern, value-based education.

Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said the institutions hold deep personal significance as they are named in honour of his wife, Arathi Shetty, and his mother-in-law, Leelavati Hegde. He described the project as the fulfilment of a long-standing commitment to create educational opportunities while contributing to the long-term development of Mumbai’s suburban communities, where his own professional journey began over four decades ago.

Emphasising the growing importance of education in a rapidly evolving world, Shetty said that schools today must prepare students not only with academic knowledge but also with qualities such as resilience, curiosity, leadership, empathy and strong ethical values. He noted that with artificial intelligence, technological advancements and global interconnectedness transforming industries and societies, educational institutions must equip students with future-ready skills while preserving India’s cultural heritage.

Once fully operational, the educational campus is expected to cater to nearly 3,500 students, offering a curriculum that blends modern learning methodologies with Indian values and traditions.

Shetty expressed his gratitude to the trustees, donors, Bunts Sangha leadership and well-wishers whose support helped transform the vision into reality. He remarked that the greatest legacy one can leave behind is not wealth but opportunity, adding that the institutions represent the beginning of a long-term responsibility to shape generations of learners and future leaders.

The new schools are expected to strengthen educational infrastructure in Mumbai while contributing to the development of skilled, responsible and globally competitive citizens.
