Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration in research, innovation and the sustainable development of the maritime and port sectors.
The partnership will promote joint initiatives in areas such as smart port technologies, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development and maritime engineering. By combining academic expertise with industry experience, the two organisations aim to develop innovative solutions that enhance port efficiency, safety and operational performance.
Under the agreement, PPA and NTUA will collaborate on research projects, technical studies, knowledge exchange programmes and training initiatives. The partnership is also expected to create opportunities for students and researchers to engage in practical projects related to port operations, logistics and maritime technologies.
The collaboration supports the growing adoption of digital and green technologies across the global maritime industry, with a focus on improving competitiveness while reducing environmental impacts. Areas of interest may include automation, data analytics, energy efficiency, decarbonisation and the application of advanced engineering solutions in port management.
