Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) has signed a long-term agreement with Isuzu Motors India Pvt. Ltd. (IMIPL) for the export of commercial vehicles through the port’s General Cargo Berth, further strengthening its position as a key gateway for India’s automobile exports.
Under the five-year agreement, Isuzu Motors India will receive concessional wharfage rates linked to export volumes, enabling more cost-effective and efficient exports while reinforcing KPL’s customer-centric approach to port operations.
Isuzu Motors India has been exporting its D-Max and S-Cab pickup models from its manufacturing facility at Sri City through Kamarajar Port since 2019. The vehicles are shipped to major Middle East markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan.
The agreement was signed in the presence of J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, Managing Director of Kamarajar Port Limited, Hironori Okawa, Assistant General Manager, Isuzu Motors India Pvt. Ltd., Thirumurugan, General Manager (Operations), KPL, and senior officials from both organisations.
KPL said the agreement further strengthens its long-standing partnership with Isuzu Motors India while enhancing the company’s global supply chain capabilities.
The port authority added that the collaboration reaffirms Kamarajar Port’s role as a preferred automobile export hub and supports India’s expanding maritime trade and logistics ecosystem by offering globally competitive and efficient port services.
