Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), the airport arm of Adani Enterprises, has secured ₹9,825 crore (about $1 billion) in fresh equity from a consortium of major global and domestic investors, giving the company a pre-money valuation of around $18 billion.

The investor consortium comprises Temasek, BlackRock-managed funds, Alpha Wave Global and Premji Invest. The investors will subscribe to new shares in three tranches and are expected to collectively hold approximately 5.54% of AAHL once the transaction is completed.

The fundraise provides an external institutional valuation benchmark for Adani Airports and strengthens its financial position as it prepares for a major expansion of its airport network and associated infrastructure. The company currently operates eight airports in India, including Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

AAHL plans to use the proceeds to modernise and expand airport infrastructure, develop integrated airport-city ecosystems and scale non-aeronautical businesses such as ground handling. The company has set a target of increasing its annual passenger-handling capacity to around 200 million, from roughly 120 million currently.

The airport operator also plans around 22 million sq ft of mixed-use development in the first phase of its Adani Airport City programme. The strategy is aimed at increasing commercial revenues while creating broader business ecosystems around its airports.

The investment comes as India prepares to offer 11 additional airports under long-term public-private partnership arrangements, creating further expansion opportunities for major airport operators. Adani Airports has indicated that it intends to participate in the upcoming airport bidding process.

The latest transaction follows Adani Enterprises’ ₹15,000 crore qualified institutional placement in July 2026, highlighting continued access to institutional capital for the group’s infrastructure businesses.

With the new capital and expansion plans, Adani Airports is positioning itself as a major integrated airport infrastructure platform, combining airport operations with passenger services, ground handling, commercial development and airport-linked real estate.
