    Hapag-Lloyd AG has appointed Anders Boenaes as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective October 1, 2026, following a decision by the company’s Supervisory Board.

    Boenaes, a Danish national, joined Hapag-Lloyd in 2020 as Senior Managing Director Network and a member of the Executive Committee. He is responsible for the company’s global liner network, container fleet and global operations. He previously spent more than two decades with Maersk.

    The Supervisory Board has also extended the contract of Dheeraj Bhatia, Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO) and member of Hapag-Lloyd’s Executive Board, until December 31, 2029.

    Bhatia, an Indian national, joined Hapag-Lloyd as Managing Director and later served as Senior Managing Director for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa region. He joined the Executive Board in January 2024 and also serves as CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals, Hapag-Lloyd’s terminal and infrastructure business.
