DP World has added hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes at Manila South Harbour in the Philippines, strengthening the terminal’s container-handling capabilities while supporting efforts to improve operational efficiency.
The new hybrid RTG cranes are designed to provide greater flexibility in container yard operations while reducing fuel consumption and emissions compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment.
The deployment forms part of DP World’s wider investment in modern cargo-handling equipment and more sustainable terminal operations. Hybrid technology can help terminals lower their environmental footprint while maintaining the productivity required to handle growing container volumes.
Manila South Harbour is an important gateway for Philippine international trade, handling containerised cargo for importers and exporters. Additional handling equipment is expected to support smoother yard operations and improve the terminal’s ability to manage cargo demand.
