GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) have jointly inaugurated an AI-enabled GMPL Yard, marking a significant step towards technology-driven and smart logistics infrastructure.
The facility, inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Marketing), GAIL, is equipped with advanced IT systems, artificial intelligence and smart infrastructure aimed at enabling efficient, secure, transparent and real-time container yard operations.
The inauguration was attended by senior officials from GAIL, GMPL and CWC, including H.K. Srivastav, Executive Director (Petrochemical), GAIL; Ajay Chitre, Chief General Manager (Marketing–PTA), GAIL; A.K. Naskar, CEO, GMPL; Anil Manik Rao, Executive Director (MIS), CWC; and Rahul N. Gaikwad, Regional Manager, CWC, RO Bangalore.
CWC has conceptualised, established and enabled the yard’s state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and will manage and operate the facility. Its responsibilities will include container handling and movement, truck entry and exit management, surveillance, tracking and other technology-enabled operational functions.
A key feature of the facility is the Real-Time Digital Twin of the Yard and Containers, which provides a dynamic digital representation of the physical yard. The system enables real-time visibility of container locations, movements and yard activities, supporting stronger operational control, faster decision-making and greater transparency.
The AI-enabled facility is expected to enhance the efficiency, security and visibility of GMPL’s container yard operations while strengthening the integration of digital technologies into multimodal logistics.
