Shri Sushil Kumar Lohani, Chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), chaired a high-level coordination meeting in Agra to review the development of inland waterways and river-based tourism infrastructure in the Agra–Mathura region.

The meeting brought together the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate of Agra, Vice Chairman of the Agra Development Authority, Municipal Commissioner, and senior officials from the Irrigation Department, PWD and other stakeholder agencies.

Discussions focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination for the development of inland waterways and associated tourism infrastructure, particularly the proposed jetties at Mathura and the supporting offshore and onshore facilities.

Shri Lohani stressed the need for coordinated and time-bound action among IWAI, district administration and State and local agencies to convert the proposals into tangible projects. The initiatives are aimed at unlocking the region’s potential for river-based tourism, improved connectivity and sustainable inland waterways development.
