Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, hosted Kandla Forum 2026 – “Anchoring Maritime Decarbonisation”, bringing together global and Indian stakeholders from the hydrogen, clean energy, shipping, shipbuilding, engineering, technology and financial sectors to accelerate collaboration, technology transfer and investment in the green maritime ecosystem.

The Forum aligns with India’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070 and highlighted DPA’s efforts to position Kandla as an emerging hub for green hydrogen, clean fuels, sustainable shipping and maritime decarbonisation.

More than 200 senior executives representing 62 Hydrogen Council member companies participated in the Forum, alongside Indian manufacturers, developers, offtakers, shipping and shipbuilding companies, financial institutions and other stakeholders. The international delegation represented electrolyser and equipment manufacturers, energy and industrial gas companies, engineering and EPC firms, mobility manufacturers, maritime organisations, classification entities and project finance institutions.

Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, led extensive interactions with the visiting global industry delegation on Kandla’s green hydrogen and derivative infrastructure and its emerging role in the maritime energy transition.

During his presentation, the DPA Chairman outlined the Port’s existing and planned green-energy infrastructure, including the availability of power, water and land, green hydrogen and derivative facilities, methanol bunkering and opportunities for investment, joint ventures and technology deployment. He invited global companies to engage with Kandla and convert industry–port dialogue into tangible projects and partnerships.

DPA currently has a 1 MW green hydrogen plant in operation, with additional green hydrogen facilities under development. The Port has also completed India’s first methanol bunkering trial and is developing infrastructure to support green hydrogen and derivative production. Kandla is also an anchor port in studies for the India–Europe Green Shipping Corridor.

A key feature of Kandla Forum 2026 was its interaction-driven format, with sector-specific discussions held directly with DPA leadership. The sessions covered electrolysers and equipment, green ammonia, methanol and e-fuels, power, water and land, engineering and EPC, maritime bunkering, shipbuilding, green-fuel engines, ship repair, financing and risk.

The participating companies presented their technologies and business propositions while gaining a clearer understanding of opportunities at Kandla for investment, joint ventures, technology deployment and industrial development.

As part of the Forum, delegates visited Deendayal Port, Kandla, including the upcoming e-Methanol facility, India’s first megawatt-scale indigenous green hydrogen plant at the Oil Jetty and the Cargo Jetty area. Focused interactions were also held on green shipbuilding, ship repair and methanol bunkering, providing delegates with an on-ground view of the Port’s infrastructure and development plans.

A technology exhibition was also organised at the Administrative Office Building, Gandhidham, showcasing solutions from participating companies and facilitating direct interaction between technology providers, industry leaders and the Port ecosystem.

The Forum concluded with a focus on taking forward expressions of interest and converting discussions into concrete investments, technology partnerships, joint ventures and projects. DPA plans to continue its engagement with participating companies in areas where the Port is open to investment and deployment of new technologies.

Kandla Forum 2026 marks another significant step in DPA’s efforts to establish Kandla as a major hub for green fuels, green shipping, shipbuilding and maritime decarbonisation, bringing together global expertise, technology and investment with India’s expanding green maritime ambitions.
