Adani Logistics, in partnership with CMA CGM, has flagged off what it describes as India’s largest electric truck fleet for container movement at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) Tumb in Vapi, marking a significant step towards sustainable freight transportation.
The initiative introduces electric mobility into inland container logistics, supporting the movement of cargo between ports, inland depots, warehouses and manufacturing facilities through cleaner transportation solutions.
The deployment reflects the growing focus on decarbonising India’s logistics sector, where road transportation plays a critical role in connecting ports with industrial hubs and export-import cargo centres. The adoption of electric trucks can help reduce tailpipe emissions and dependence on conventional fossil fuels, while supporting the industry’s broader sustainability objectives.
The collaboration between Adani Logistics and CMA CGM highlights the importance of industry partnerships in accelerating the adoption of low-emission transport solutions across the logistics value chain.
As India strengthens its multimodal logistics infrastructure and pursues more sustainable supply chains, initiatives such as the electric truck deployment at ICD Tumb are expected to contribute to the transition towards greener and more efficient cargo transportation.
