    RAPIDX corridor between Ghaziabad to Meerut South likely to be completed in six months: Officials

    In a good news for commuters, the officials have said that the work on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RAPIDX corridor is fast advancing towards its completion. With testing going on, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is set to operationalize the 17-km priority section between Sahibabad to Duhai. As per a report, the second phase between Duhai to Meerut South station is also likely to start soon as the viaduct work is already over
    and half of the track laying work is also completed on this section.

    Vinay Singh, the Managing Director of NCRTC, recently conducted an inspection of the construction progress within this vital corridor. The inspection included various critical aspects, including track laying, overhead equipment installation, and electrical work, all executed on the already constructed viaduct and stations, the report states.

    This section hosts several key stations, including Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South.

    The Duhai to Meerut South Station stretch spans approximately 25 km, with the viaduct construction now completed. An official from NCRTC said, “The total length of up and down lines in this section is 50 km, of which more than half of the tracks have been laid. Apart from that, traction works like mast cantilever erection, etc., are being carried out.

    Presently, track laying activities are in progress on war footing.”

    The official further stated, “In the second phase of the operation of RAPIDX train services, it will operationalize between Duhai to Meerut South Station. At present, the priority section is ready for the operation of trains, and train services will commence soon for the commuters.” As per a separate report by Hindustan Times, the stretch will likely be ready in the next six months.

    As part of the second phase, construction activities for all the stations are actively underway. The official noted, “The necessary technical rooms and structures for the concourse and platform level have been completed. The stations are undergoing finishing work, and the pre-fabricated roof structure is currently under construction.”
