Pattaya Airways said it has officially begun air cargo operations in Asia with the launch of services between Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok and Yangon International Airport in Myanmar.
Operations began on September 3 using an ATR 72-500 freighter, said the Thai airline in a LinkedIn post on September 5.
“In Q3 2024, Pattaya Airways will focus on key routes, including Bangkok–Yangon, Phuket–Yangon, and Bangkok–Phuket. These routes are vital for trade connections between Thailand and neighboring countries, aiming to enhance the efficiency and fluidity of regional cargo transportation,” said Pattaya Airways.
In the fourth quarter of the year, the company plans to expand its routes to Cambodia and Vietnam to meet the rising demand for cargo services across the ASEAN market.
Pattaya Airways took delivery of its first and second ATR 72-500Fs in April and June from Ireland-based lessor ACIA Aero Leasing.
The airline also received its air operator certificate (AOC) last month from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and announced the signing of an air cargo transportation partnership agreement with ACE Global.
The airline is part of the aviation arm of the Bangkok-headquartered Pattaya Group. The aviation division was founded in 2015 and has grown to become a major ground handling service provider in Thailand.
The company offers a range of airport services, including passenger handling, flight operations, ramp services, cargo services, aircraft cabin cleaning, lounge services, GSE services and private/charter flights.
