    Seaspan Corporation has placed an order for six eco-friendly container ships with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, part of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

    The company announced the commissioning of six new vessels, each with a capacity of 13,600 TEUs, designed by the Chinese shipyard. The ships are expected to incorporate numerous green technologies and modern design principles.

    Additionally, Seaspan intends to make these vessels compatible with alternative future fuels to enhance their energy efficiency and environmental performance.

    The delivery of these new container ships is expected between 2026 and 2028.

    Earlier in the year, Seaspan, committed to a significant fleet expansion, contracted 27 dual-fuel boxships:

    • Four 9,000 TEU methanol-powered ships
    • Four 9,000 TEU LNG-powered ships
    • Five 17,000 TEU LNG-powered ships
    • Five 17,000 TEU LNG-powered ships
    • Five 16,000 TEU LNG-powered ships.
    • Four 9,000 TEU LNG-powered ships
