AD Ports Group has joined hands with Nimex to develop a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminal at Khalifa Port, marking a strategic expansion of energy infrastructure at the UAE’s flagship deep-water gateway.

The two partners recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to commence construction of the dedicated LPG handling facility. The terminal is expected to feature specialised storage tanks, advanced safety systems and marine infrastructure designed to handle LPG imports and exports efficiently.

Officials said the project aims to strengthen Khalifa Port’s position as a regional energy and petrochemicals hub, supporting growing demand for LPG across domestic and international markets. The facility will cater to industrial users, distributors and global trading firms seeking reliable storage and distribution solutions in the Gulf.

The development aligns with AD Ports Group’s broader strategy of diversifying cargo offerings and enhancing value-added services across its port and industrial ecosystem. The addition of LPG infrastructure is also expected to complement existing bulk and liquid cargo capabilities at Khalifa Port.

Once operational, the terminal is anticipated to improve turnaround times for LPG carriers, boost throughput capacity and contribute to the UAE’s role in global energy supply chains.

Project timelines and capacity details are expected to be disclosed as construction progresses.
