AFCON Cargo has initiated scheduled cargo services to the Maldives. A cargo flight from Chennai, India, to Male brought 20 tons of cargo. The cargo was exported through Etihad Airways. According to MACL, AFCON Cargo is scheduled to operate three flights per week, with plans to expand operations in the future.

According to the company, they are currently establishing interline agreements with major airlines to strengthen the airport’s cargo movement.

The company stated that the airport’s participation in global cargo connectivity logistics will increase economic benefits.

Through the Sea to Air cargo transshipment service launched by Velana International Airport, 1,000 tons of goods were exported by early last month. The airport said that 12 airlines are currently participating in the Sea to Air cargo service. These include Virgin Atlantic, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Aeroflot, NEOS, Gulf Air, Discover, Austrian, Condor, and British Airways.
