Afghanistan has exported 2,000 cartons of fresh grapes to Russia via Haritan port for the first time, according to the chamber of commerce of the northern Balkh province on Sunday.

These fresh grapes were on Saturday transported by refrigerated trucks to Uzbekistan through the province’s Haritan port and from there to Russia, head of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Asadullah Asadi, said, adding that during the past few months, goods exported from Afghanistan to neighboring countries have increased.

Afghanistan’s major fresh and dry fruits exports have been mainly shipped to India and Pakistan.

Afghanistan has also increased its exports to Central Asian countries including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan this year, show figures from Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment.
