Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)’s operation in the Port of Rijeka, Croatia, has welcomed MSC’s new HADRIA service with the maiden call of MSC ANNICK.
This standalone service at AGCT aims to enhance the North Adriatic trade, providing direct weekly links to the Far East via Malta.
Emannuel Papagiannakis, the terminal’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “With the breakup of the 2M Alliance, we are excited to welcome the new standalone MSC HADRIA service to AGCT.
“We expect shippers to embrace the new service, as well as MSC’s global connectivity and continued commitment to Rijeka as a major gateway for the Balkans and Central Europe.”
The HADRIA service makes regular weekly calls, providing regional shippers with additional access to global markets.
In December 2024, the terminal installed white noise reversing alarms on two of its rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGs) to provide a quieter, more localised sound, similar to a soothing hiss, rather than the high-pitched beeps of typical alarms.
One month later, CMA CGM Short Sea Lines added AGCT to the port rotation of its Bora Med service. The service replaces the intra-Mediterranean SSLMED Turkey Med Express 3 (TMX3), providing the Adriatic market with an improved service that includes larger ships of up to 2,500 TEUs and a wider port rotation.
