The Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), a government body focused on promoting agricultural exports, has formed a strategic partnership with the renowned retail chain LuLu Group International. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed this week in Mumbai, aiming to showcase a broad range of certified Indian organic products in LuLu Group’s stores across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Under this agreement, APEDA will connect organic growers in India, including Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and cooperatives, directly with LuLu Group. This initiative is expected to amplify the reach of Indian organic products globally. The Indian government believes that this arrangement will not only enhance the visibility of Indian organic products but will also create stronger linkages between producers and international consumers.
The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade. Key components of the agreement include dedicated shelf space in LuLu hypermarkets, promotional campaigns, Buyer-Seller Meets, and exposure visits for Indian farming cooperatives to better understand international markets. This collaboration is anticipated to bolster organic farming in India by expanding its global presence.
