AVG Logistics has entered a new business segment with the launch of a liquid logistics vertical using rail transportation, marking a strategic expansion of its operations. The company announced that it has begun transporting bulk liquid chemicals through trains fitted with ISO tank containers, with Chemplast Sanmar as its first customer.
The new vertical focuses on the safe and efficient movement of liquid cargo across major industrial corridors. Each train will carry 96 ISO tank containers, with a total load capacity of about 3,100 tonnes per trip. AVG Logistics said the new service is expected to generate annual revenue of around Rs. 22–24 crore, highlighting the commercial potential of this segment.
The liquid cargo train will work alongside the company’s recently imported ISO tanker fleet. This allows AVG Logistics to manage first-mile pickup, long-haul rail transport, and last-mile delivery in a single integrated system. The company said all operations will follow strict safety and regulatory standards. It has also partnered with the Central Warehousing Corporation for a long-term lease of flatbed trains.
AVG Logistics said its entry into liquid logistics is aimed at meeting rising demand for reliable and compliant transportation of bulk liquid chemicals. By using rail, the company plans to offer a cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable alternative to road-based liquid transport.
The rail-based solution is designed to reduce transit time, protect cargo quality, and lower handling risks.
The company has previously operated van parcel and freight services on several routes across India under long-term lease arrangements. With the launch of liquid logistics, it is now expanding into bulk chemical transportation, where safety and asset quality are critical .
AVG Logistics said the move supports its broader focus on sustainability and operational efficiency. Rail transport helps cut carbon emissions per tonne-kilometre, reduces fuel use, and eases road congestion. The company plans to expand its liquid logistics train operations gradually, based on customer demand and corridor feasibility, and to continue investing in specialised assets and compliance systems to support India’s growing liquid cargo ecosystem.
