Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) saw 63,188 MT of cargo through the terminal in FY24, an increase of 18% over FY 2022–23.
For FY24, BLR Airport handled 28% of the country’s share of perishable cargo and 44% of all cargo in south India.
BLR Airport is a top exporter of a range of perishable goods all year long. In FY24, it shipped an amazing 47,041 metric tons of chicken products, earning it the top spot in the rankings.
“We have accounted for 44% of the total perishable cargo export share in the South India region, transforming BLR Airport into the premier gateway to South and Central India. Our focus remains on enhancing infrastructure and services to support the growing demand for perishable goods and further solidify our position as a key player in global trade,” said Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport Limited.
Acording to a release, “WFS BLR Coolport, India’s first integrated on-airport perishable handling center, is located at BLR Airport and has a 40,000 metric ton terminal capacity. This cutting edge facility has been specifically developed for perishable cold chain freight and offers on-site regulatory services, such as Indian Customs, a drug controller lab, and plant and animal quarantine inspections.”
Connectivity is greatly improved by BLR Airport, which connects Indian producers with important global markets. Perishable goods may be transported seamlessly to over 100 global destinations, including popular markets like Oman, Singapore, Qatar, UAE, Maldives, UK, and Kuwait, thanks to the airport’s broad network, the release further said.
