Ryan Weir, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for India and South Asia at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said that India’s surging e-commerce sector will be a key driver of air freight market expansion. This, he noted, will help sustain the industry even as passenger demand experiences fluctuations.

Weir reaffirmed Boeing’s commitment to delivering the 737, 787, and 777 aircraft ordered by Indian airlines and highlighted the company’s investment in India’s aviation ecosystem. Boeing is strengthening its presence by expanding pilot training programs and providing advanced simulators in the region to support the country’s growing aviation sector.

Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India and South Asia, underscored the company’s supplier network growth, revealing that Boeing has developed around 300 suppliers in India over the past decade, including 75 MSMEs. He welcomed the fact that competitors like Airbus and Lockheed Martin occasionally source components from Boeing-linked suppliers, viewing it as a positive for India’s aerospace industry.

According to Gupte, increased scale enables suppliers to negotiate better contracts, accelerate learning, and enhance their capabilities. He noted that cross-OEM supplier collaborations are common in the industry, fostering overall growth and efficiency.

Addressing Boeing’s recent financial struggles, Gupte acknowledged the challenges of the past five years but stressed the company’s unwavering focus on safety, quality, and restoring customer trust.
