Broekman Logistics team in India has completed delivery of 1,600 tons of project cargo from Tauranga Port in New Zealand to Leyte Port in the Philippines. The international freight forwarder chartered the multipurpose vessel MV Morning Tide for the job. The vessel was loaded with project cargo totalling 7,200 cubic metres, 1,600 tonnes and 94 individual packages.
The complex cargo included 94 packages of oil and gas rigs, including Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) and heavy lifts, with some individual units weighing up to 88 tonnes. This operation underscores the meticulous planning and coordinated efforts undertaken by the involved parties.
The success of this project can be attributed to several key factors, according to Broekman Logistics. “Meticulous planning, precise vetting of charter party agreements, diligent negotiation by our commercial team, and comprehensive charter liability insurance arrangements were all crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the project and effectively mitigating any potential risks,” the company said.
This successful shipment highlights the growing trade links between New Zealand and the Philippines, particularly within the oil and gas sector. It also demonstrates the expertise involved in managing complex logistics for oversized and heavy cargo shipments.
