Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force has engaged in strategic discussions with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and five major Indian cashew buyers to explore opportunities for exporting Cambodian cashew nuts to the Indian market and globally.

The meeting, held on February 23 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, focused on Cambodia’s cashew production capacity, quality standards, and export potential.

During the discussion, Indian buyers expressed a strong interest in both raw cashew nuts and processed kernels, recognising the potential for direct trade partnerships.

They acknowledged that Cambodian cashew nuts are renowned for their large kernels and unique flavour profile, making them particularly appealing to consumers.

The discussion also served as a platform to explore broader opportunities to enhance Cambodia’s cashew exports and increase value addition within the sector.

According to a report from the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia, Cambodia produced 850,000 tonnes of cashew nuts last year, representing a 26.8 percent increase year over year, and exported 815,000 tonnes, up 31 percent.
