CargoAi has reported significant time savings across the air cargo industry through its artificial intelligence (AI) platform, which automates shipment request processing, airline email management, freight quotations and customer service.
Presenting the findings at the CargoTech press conference during the International Air Cargo Association’s (TIACA) Air Cargo Forum in Miami, Founder and CEO Matt Petot outlined the company’s seven-year development journey, which began in 2019 with efforts to connect air cargo rates, capacity and data.
The company’s AI agent, operational since October 2024, has expanded automation across airline and general sales agent (GSA) operations, freight forwarding and customer communications.
Automating Airline and GSA Operations
CargoAi’s AI technology has processed 446,000 shipment requests over the past two years, extracting information from emails, spreadsheets and photographs in an average of 1.6 seconds per request. The company estimates that this has saved approximately 37,000 hours of manual data entry, equivalent to the monthly workload of 13 full-time employees.
Its AirAgent solution has also processed 105,000 airline customer emails so far in 2026, including 25,000 in October. Around 70% of these enquiries concern rates, shipment tracking and bookings for which airlines already have the required information.
By drafting or sending responses, the system has saved an estimated 6,100 working hours this year. For a major cargo airline handling two million emails annually, CargoAi estimates that similar automation could save approximately 117,000 hours a year, equivalent to the workload of 61 employees.
Automated Quotations for Freight Forwarders
CargoAi’s Auto Quote solution enables freight forwarders to generate quotations using live rates from more than 200 airlines. The system processes shipper requests received through forwarders’ mailboxes and incorporates trucking costs, local charges and forwarder margins into quotations.
Freight forwarders have generated 400,000 quotations through the platform’s quotation module so far in 2026. CargoAi estimates that automating the quotation process could save approximately 87,000 working hours across its platform, equivalent to the monthly workload of 54 full-time employees.
The company noted that around 90% of priced searches on its platform are still quoted to shippers manually, indicating further potential for automation.
AI-Powered Customer Service and Connectivity
CargoAi’s CargoCoPilot agent, Aike, handles rate, tracking and booking enquiries through CargoMART, email and WhatsApp, allowing customers to interact with the platform using natural language.
Over the past 12 months, 6,935 freight forwarding companies have searched for live rates on CargoAi’s platform, which connects them with 209 airlines and provides shipment tracking across more than 260 airlines.
The company is also supporting third-party AI applications through its application programming interfaces (APIs) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector. STRACKER uses the technology to automate key stages of its airfreight quotation process, while Flexport integrates airline rates, schedules and market intelligence into its internal systems and AI-powered workflows.
“Our customers can use our AI capabilities directly, build their own agents and automate real cargo workflows without having to start from scratch,” Petot said, highlighting the connectivity, data and intelligence developed by the company over several years.
CargoAi said its AI solutions are designed to reduce repetitive administrative work and enable industry professionals to devote more time to sales, customer relationships and other commercial activities.
