Cathay Cargo has commenced freighter operations at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), expanding its dedicated cargo network in India and strengthening air freight connectivity through the Mumbai region.
The new freighter operations will provide additional capacity for exporters and importers handling time-sensitive and high-value shipments. The service is expected to support cargo flows between India and Cathay Cargo’s international network through its Hong Kong hub.
Navi Mumbai International Airport is being developed as a major aviation and logistics gateway for the Mumbai metropolitan region. Its cargo infrastructure is intended to support a broad range of commodities and strengthen the region’s international trade connections.
Cathay Cargo’s presence at NMIA adds another dedicated freighter operator to the airport’s growing cargo ecosystem. The move is also expected to provide logistics companies and freight forwarders with additional routing options for international shipments.
India’s air cargo market is expanding alongside growth in pharmaceuticals, electronics, engineering products, perishables and e-commerce. Greater freighter capacity is expected to help exporters access overseas markets while providing importers with more options for moving high-value cargo.
The launch marks another step in Cathay Cargo’s expansion of its India operations and strengthens air cargo links between western India, Hong Kong and other international destinations.
