To get the project off the ground quickly, Centre issued a gazette notification last week appointing subdivisional officers and a relief and rehabilitation officer for acquisition of land for a 32km greenfield highway connecting to the proposed Vadhavan port.

For the highway, 571 hectares will be acquired. It will be connected to Mumbai-Vadodara expressway and Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The port is to be built by reclaiming 1,448 hectares from the sea.
