    Chennai Port has set a new benchmark by handling an all-time high of 1.66 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) as of Feb 28, surpassing its previous record of 1.62 million TEUs from 2018-19.

    This feat was achieved a month ahead of the financial year’s close.

    On March 1, the port also crossed the 50-million-tonne overall cargo milestone, reaching the mark 22 days earlier than expected.

    Chennai Port Authority Chairperson Sunil Paliwal credited the achievement to the coordinated efforts of stakeholders, including terminal operatorsĀ Chennai Container TerminalĀ Pvt. Ltd., Chennai International Terminal Pvt. Ltd., and port officials.
