    Chennai Port Strengthens Maritime & Economic Ties with Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre

    Chennai Port Authority hosted a high-level delegation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), along with representatives from leading global shipping lines, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening maritime connectivity, trade cooperation, and economic partnerships between India and Taiwan.

    The delegation was welcomed by Shri Sachin S. Kurve, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, and Shri S. Viswanathan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson. Representatives from major international shipping companies, including Wan Hai Lines, InterAsia Lines, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, and Evergreen Marine Corporation, also participated in the discussions.

    The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral maritime cooperation, improving trade facilitation, expanding container shipping services, and exploring new opportunities to support India’s rapidly growing economy. The interaction highlighted the importance of Chennai Port as a strategic gateway for international trade and its role in strengthening supply chain connectivity across the Indo-Pacific region.

    The discussions also emphasized the value of continued engagement between Chennai Port Authority, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre, and global shipping stakeholders to foster innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in the maritime sector.

    Speaking on the occasion, officials noted that such collaborations reinforce the long-standing relationship between India and Taiwan, creating new opportunities for investment, logistics, and trade while supporting the Government of India’s vision of developing world-class port infrastructure and enhancing global maritime partnerships.

    The visit marks another significant step in deepening economic and maritime ties, paving the way for stronger commercial cooperation and increased shipping connectivity between the two economies.
