    China has asserted its leadership in port automation technology and its application scale, as highlighted by the Ministry of Transport in a recent announcement. The ministry revealed that China currently boasts 21 automated container terminals and 28 automated terminals for dry bulk goods. Additionally, construction has commenced on 7 large-scale automated ports in the first half of this year alone. These initiatives collectively position China at the forefront globally, both in terms of established automated ports and those currently under development.

    The ministry emphasized that China’s advancements in port automation are supported by a robust framework of industrial technical standards. For instance, the country has formulated and issued specific design specifications tailored for automated container ports. These standards play a pivotal role in facilitating the construction of smart ports across China, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and technological innovation in maritime logistics.
