ClassNK has updated its ‘ClassNK Alternative Fuels Insight’ report to Version 2.0, with the latest information on alternative fuel ships.

‘ClassNK Alternative Fuels Insight’ aims to provide the latest trends for each alternative fuel.

In the recently released Version 2.0, we have added information on the demand for alternative fuels. This information is estimated by ClassNK based on data about alternative fuel ships scheduled for delivery and cost simulations for ammonia-fuelled ships, which are expected to be ordered more frequently in the future.

In addition, the report provides information on the trend of green methane production projects that are expected to be used in LNG-fuelled ships, the GHG emissions assessment of biofuels as an effective GHG reduction measure for conventional fuel ships and onboard CCS systems.

The report also provides information on the rating results of CII in force from 2023 for ships verified by ClassNK, including results by ship type and size.

The ‘ClassNK Alternative Fuels Insight’ is planned for continuous updates according to the latest trends of alternative fuels and regulations in international shipping.

Earlier this year, ClassNK gave its Innovation Endorsement for Products and Solutions to Deep Sea Technologies SMPC’s ‘Cassandra’ vessel and voyage performance monitoring technology.

Last month, ClassNK announced that it will provide the world’s first accreditation for “Machinery Room Safety for Ammonia” (MRS) to NYK’s ammonia-fuelled medium gas carrier (AFMGC).
