CMA CGM has announced the introduction of a peak season surcharge (PSS) on cargo moving from Asia to North Europe, citing continued market pressure and strong seasonal demand.

The surcharge will apply to shipments loaded from key Asian origins, including China, Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent, to ports across North Europe. CMA CGM said the PSS is aimed at covering rising operational and network costs during the peak shipping period.

The French carrier has advised customers to check applicable rates and effective dates, which may vary by port pair and container type, as global container markets remain volatile.

The move comes amid ongoing capacity adjustments and elevated freight rate uncertainty on major east–west trade lanes.
