The CMA CGM OSMIUM, one of CMA CGM’s latest 13,000-TEU dual-fuel methanol-powered container ships, has been officially named at a ceremony held in South Korea, marking another milestone in the Group’s fleet modernization and decarbonization journey.
The vessel was welcomed during the ceremony by her Master, Captain MA XunMin, and her godmother, Ms. Dorothée Regazzoni, Head of Territory BNP Paribas South Korea, in line with long-standing maritime traditions that signal the beginning of a ship’s service at sea.
Designed to operate on methanol as an alternative fuel, CMA CGM OSMIUM represents a significant step forward in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting CMA CGM’s Net Zero Carbon 2050 ambition.
The vessel is scheduled to be deployed on the M2X service, connecting major Asian ports with Mexico, strengthening trade links while advancing the energy transition in global shipping.
