In a major boost to India’s cold-chain logistics and EXIM trade connectivity, Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), in collaboration with Arkas Line and Parekh Marine Agencies Pvt Ltd, successfully flagged off the maiden Reefer Block Train from the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) Dadri to Nava Sheva (JNPT), Mumbai on May 9, 2026.
The dedicated temperature-controlled rail service is aimed at ensuring seamless and efficient transportation of perishable EXIM cargo between North India’s hinterland and the country’s key gateway port. The initiative is expected to strengthen cold-chain logistics infrastructure while enhancing supply chain reliability for exporters.
Leveraging the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), the service offers faster transit times, improved schedule reliability, and optimized connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port, enabling time-sensitive cargo to move more efficiently to international markets.
The dedicated reefer train service is also aligned with sustainable logistics goals by promoting rail-based cargo movement, helping reduce carbon emissions and easing road congestion.
The initiative is expected to provide a significant advantage to exporters of perishable commodities from North India by offering a specialized and dependable “Cold Link” to global trade routes.
CONCOR expressed its gratitude to customers and stakeholders for their support in launching the new service, describing the initiative as another step forward in strengthening India’s multimodal logistics and export ecosystem.
