Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has commissioned an in-house liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel station at its Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Dadri, marking another step in the company’s efforts to promote cleaner and more sustainable logistics operations. The new facility is expected to encourage the use of LNG-powered trucks, helping reduce carbon emissions while supporting India’s transition towards greener freight transportation.
Strategically located at the Dadri logistics hub, the LNG station will cater to heavy commercial vehicles operating to and from the terminal, providing a reliable and efficient source of cleaner fuel. The initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s vision to increase the adoption of alternative fuels in the transport sector and lower the environmental impact of road freight movement.
The in-house fuelling infrastructure is expected to improve operational efficiency by enabling transporters to refuel within the logistics park, reducing turnaround times and supporting seamless cargo movement. LNG-powered vehicles typically emit lower levels of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides, and particulate matter than conventional diesel trucks, making them a more environmentally sustainable option for long-haul freight.
The development complements CONCOR’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes expanding rail-based freight transportation, improving multimodal connectivity, and adopting environmentally responsible technologies across its logistics network. The Dadri MMLP serves as one of the company’s key logistics hubs, connecting major industrial centres with ports and inland destinations through integrated rail and road services.
By establishing its own LNG fuelling station, CONCOR aims to accelerate the adoption of green logistics solutions while enhancing the efficiency of freight operations. The initiative is expected to support customers seeking lower-emission supply chain options and reinforce the company’s commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient logistics ecosystem in India.
